Motorcyclist reaches nearly 180 mph during police chase
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG/Gray News) - A motorcyclist led police in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on a high-speed chase Wednesday evening.
At approximately 7 p.m., police tried to pull over a pickup truck and motorcycle on Iowa Highway 100 after officers witnessed them taking videos of dangerous stunts.
The driver of the pickup truck stopped, but the motorcyclist disobeyed police and continued to drive down the highway in an attempt to elude officers.

The motorcycle driver, later identified by Cedar Rapids police as Kyle Ward, led police on the high-speed chase that eventually ended on 18th Street SW.
Iowa State Patrol tracked the motorcyclist by plane and helped direct officers to the suspects’ hiding spot.
The plane also tracked the speed of the motorcycle. Ward reached 177 miles per hour while traveling on the highways, police said.
Ward was arrested and charged with felony eluding 25 mph over the speed limit, careless driving, speeding, disobeying a traffic control device, improper ing, failure to display registration plate and improper tires.
